Ghetto cooking at it's finest!!
Feb. 23rd, 2006 09:19 pmSome of my other friends post regular updates on wonderful meals they cook. I feel somewhat envious because these meals always sound so wonderful to me...I wish I made something worthwhile to post about. SO I decided, why wait until my culinary skills are at a omparable level to my friends? I'm going to start posting now!!
Tonight's Dinner:
Broccoli, steamed until it's tender yet firm
Cheddar sauce, lumpy and marbled looking, but edible. This is to be poured over the Broccoli.
Discount Store Brand Hamburger Helper--the kind with Penne Noodles, with twice the recommended burger. This is stired by a child, who doesn't understand the art of stirring to the bottom of the pot and so there was a nice thick layer stuck to the bottom of the pot when I took over the stirring. The stuck layer was never quite rescued, so the entire pot is permeated with a not unpleasant, but still distinct burned flavour.
All in all, I still know how to steam veggies wonderfully. I totally miss my microwave because I made much better cheese sauce using it--and it was a hell of a lot easier to defrost meat when you realized you'd forgotten to take it out of the freezer the day before to defrost in the fridge. Lastly, Natasha needs to learn how to stir properly, *and* I need to learn to watch how she's stiring a little more.
Overall appeal of meal (remember, this is on the ghetto meal scale) 7
